At key points in our life we may run into conflict with ourselves, where part of us wants to do something while another part seems to have a different agenda. Have you ever felt like this?
It may manifest in any number of ways. For example..
"I really want to go to the gym so I can look good, but I want to sit on the couch with my friends who don't like the gym".
"I really wanted to perform well in the business meeting tomorrow because my career is important to me, but I needed to stay out drinking with my friends the night before because they wanted me to .
A part of you wants you to quit your job and start your own business while the other part of you wants you to enjoy the current job’s security.
WHY?
Why is it that these inner conflicts can become such all-consuming distractions?
Emotional experiences throughout our lives, especially during the early imprint years (up to 7 years old) can result in the creation of unconscious parts of ourselves. These parts generate their own values and beliefs, and are responsible for certain behaviours. Overwhelming feelings and reactions, as well as out of control behaviours are often the result of conflicting parts’. So for example, say you grew up in a house hold where money was in short supply. After deciding to start your own business you might find that one part is unconsciously sabotaging your efforts in order to keep you safe and secure in your old job. Many of us could think of several examples where this type of thing occurs. It is very common.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?
As with most things, a solution is only possible once there is awareness that this phenomenon exists in the first place. It is only then that it is possible to gain insight into the conflicting parts, and then work on uniting those parts under a common goal.
At The Juicy Effect, this is one of the most common things we assist people with through a process we call Parts Integration.
Parts Integration is a useful method for overcoming ‘bad habits’, indecision, procrastination and all sorts of internal conflicts which are probably in the way of you achieving your goals.
Conflicts of this type need to be resolved at the source – at the unconscious level. Drawing on principles from Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Parts Integration creates the internal harmony that is required for Synergistic Wellbeing and Inspired Living.
If you felt more congruent, empowered and clear, how would this impact your decisions and actions?
