Becoming the hero of your own awesome journey.

Many years ago I was introduced to the work of Joseph Campbell and The Hero’s Journey. The guy is a legend because he went to the trouble of reviewing all of the stories depicted in various religions and spiritual traditions to see what was in common. What he found was that there is a common blueprint that stories commonly follow, which is depicted in the image below. Most importantly, he observed that stories following this blueprint resonate with us almost instantly.

As human beings, many of us experience this phenomenon where we feel compelled to do something that makes no sense to others, but becomes increasingly important over time. We try to ignore it, but eventually it gets the better of us and we head off on an adventure into the unknown. Along the way, we face challenges and dragons and suffering until one day, there is a revelation or breakthrough that transforms us in ways we could never have imagined. We then return to ‘the known’ to share our adventures and assist others with their own adventure.

If COVID-19 has taught us anything, it’s that the challenges of the unknown variety can spring from nowhere at any time, usually uninvited. Life can change direction instantly at anytime. As Forest Gump said when he stepped in that pile of poo, ‘it happens’.

Therefore, developing the skills and ability and decision-making confidence to deal with uncertain situations and circumstances as they occur is the name of the game.

But how?

Well, this is not necessarily a straightforward question to answer, but there are two starting points that can make a really big difference:

  1. Discover Yourself. The characteristics of your mind at any given moment influence thoughts, words and actions associated with that moment. By getting to know your own habits and tendencies and unconscious ways we make decisions, and being able to deal with the natural fluctuations of the mind, we are in a better position to make moment by moment decisions as the unknown unfolds.

  2. Clear your energetic field. Many of us take steps to improve our mental and physical wellbeing, but overlook the qualities of our energetic field. As humans, we are beings of energy and light. Just like water can be polluted in many different ways, so too can our energetic field become polluted by the energy of other people and circumstances. Clearing our energetic field is often the missing ingredient in a person’s overall health and wellbeing strategy.

This is actually why we put together our ‘Step Out Of Struggle Into Flow’ package that combines Astrology and Energy Healing. Once you have a better understanding of your own Karmic Blueprint and the challenges you are likely to experience in life, it becomes easier to clear your energetic path whilst you are embarking on your own Hero’s Journey.
